DESIGN & CONFIGURATION

Can You Have It Your Way?

The design and configuration phase of a project is one of the most difficult but important phases. It is an exacting process and should not be taken lightly by any team members. This is the phase where you make the decisions related to the setup of the software. While some setting can be changed after the fact, there are some that once a box in checked and data is entered, there is no going back. Our job is to point out those areas and to assist you in making the appropriate decisions to have the software run to fit your business practices. We have been through this process many, many times with our clients and know what pitfalls to watch out for.

Our design and configuration sessions are broken apart by software module. While showing you the software, we will ask numerous questions of your team relating to how you currently do business as well as what areas you would like to have changes made. What comes out of these conversations is how we will configuration your system. Prior to the setup and configuration we will produce a Decisions Made document for your team to review. This documents captures all of the decisions and notes related to the design and configuration sessions. Once approved by your team, the set up begins.

Below are examples of the types of questions that may be asked during these sessions:

  • Will you be changing the Chart of Accounts?
  • What will your G/L account format be?
  • Do you currently process late fees in the system?
  • Do you want to see an over budget warning when creating payables?
  • Do you have shared bank accounts?
  • How do you currently handle unit transfers?
